Description
Zithromax is created by pharmacy specialists to treat dangerous infections (STD, pneumonia, bronchitis, lungs, throat or ears infections, skin infections, MAC). Zithromax works by destroying the bacteria which cause infection.
Zithromax acts as an anti-infection remedy and contains the active ingredient Azithromycin - a macrolide antibiotic which works by killing bacteria which spread infection.
Zithromax and other antibiotics don't treat viral infections (flu, cold etc.).
Zithromax can be taken by children who are over 1 year old, in treatment of community acquired pneumonia, tonsillitis or pharyngitis, otitis media.
Zithromax can also be taken by patients who are allergic to penicillin.
Zithromax is also known as Azithromycin, Azovid, Azee, Azotik, Azithral, Zithromac, Vinzam, Zmax, Sumamed, Zitrocin, Aziswift.
Dosage
You should take Zithromax orally with a full glass of water 1 hour before or 2 hours after food.
Take Zithromax at the same time every day.
Zithromax treats different types of bacterial infections and can be used both by adults and by children.
For children:
The dosage is dependent upon the child's weight. In treatment of otitis media, take Zithromax for 1-5 days.
For adults:
To treat pneumonia or throat/tonsil infection, the recommended dose is two 250 mg tablets on the first day and then one 250 mg tablet once a day for 4 more days.
For the prevention of MAC (mycobacterium avium complex), the recommended dosage of Zithromax is 1,200 mg per week.
For the treatment of skin or infections, the recommended dosage is two 250 mg tablets on the first day and one 250 mg tablet for another 4 days.
Missing a dose
Zithromax is used only when needed, therefore missed dosages are not relevant. Do not exceed the doctor's recommended dose.
Overdose
If you take an overdose of Zithromax you should visit your doctor or health care provider immediately. Symptoms of Zithromax overdosage include discomfort in the stomach, diarrhea, retching and nausea.
Storage
Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F) and away from excess moisture and heat. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date. Keep out of the reach of children.
