Description
Fliban is a non-hormonal drug used to enhance sexual desire and decrease emotional distress in premenopausal women with Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD), the most commonly reported sexual dysfunction in women.
Fliban is prescribed for use in women who have not gone through menopause, who have not had problems with low sexual desire in the past, and who have low sexual desire no matter the type of sexual activity, the situation, or the sexual partner.
Fliban is manufactured by Centurion Laboratories.
Fliban contains Flibaserin, the same as “Addyi” developed by Sprout Pharmaceuticals.
Flibanserin is the first approved medication for HSDD, and is classified as a multifunctional serotonin agonist antagonist (MSAA).
Fliban has been called "Female Viagra", but the way in which it works is distinctly different from Viagra. Viagra works by increasing blood flow to the genitals, whereas Fliban may work more like an antidepressant by correcting an imbalance of neurotransmitters in the brain to help restore sexual desire. It has effects on dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin levels in the brain.
Fliban is for use only when low sexual desire is not caused by a medical condition, a mental disorder, relationship problems, or by using drugs or other medicines. and is not due to a co-existing medical or psychiatric condition, problems within the relationship, or the effects of a medication or other drug substance.
Fliban is not prescribed for use by men and children under 18 years of age.
